Perpendicular Installation
Perpendicular-to-Rafter Installation: Fold the (4) corner mounting tabs outward along the embossed fold lines. Place the Rafter Runner between the joists centered over the pipe/utility. Confirm the first Rafter Runner vertical walls are installed at 22.5” wide. Install 2-3 fasteners in each of the mounting tabs. Place the next Rafter Runner in the adjacent joist space and confirm the 1.5” overlap of the two Runners is maintained. Install the tab fasteners. Repeat as needed.
Intersection Installation
Creating an Intersection Runner: Each Rafter Runner has an embossed cutline on each end. Cut the Runner along the cutline and install the cut Runner with the arch in contact with the perpendicular Runner. Notch the Runners around any utility mounting brackets as needed. Align the Runner with the bottom of the joists and install 4-6 fasteners in each side of the Runner (NOTE: do not install any fasteners in the 1.5” overlap area until the adjacent Runner is installed). Repeat as needed.
Parallel Installation
Parallel-to-Rafter Installation: Place the Rafter Runner between the joists and confirm the 1.5” overlap of the two Runners is maintained. Notch the Runner around any utility mounting brackets as needed. Align the Runner with the bottom of the joists and install 4-6 fasteners in each side of the Runner (NOTE: do not install any fasteners in the 1.5” overlap area until the adjacent Runner is installed). Repeat as needed.
End Cap Installation
End Cap Installation: Each end cap will work for closing off the end of a tenting run, regardless of parallel or perpendicular-to-joist Runners. For parallel-to-joist Rafter Runners, simply slide the end cap over the end of the Runner ensuring the flange is installed between the Runner vertical walls and the joists. Install 2-3 fasteners on each side through the wall of the Runner and through the flange of the end cap to hold it in place. For perpendicular-to-joist Rafter Runners, notch both sides of the end cap’s vertical flange at the embossed cutline. Place the end cap over the end of the Rafter Runner and install 3-4 fasteners through the end cap face into the joist.
